The East Area Committee comprises all the District Councillors in the Ashingdon & Canewdon, Barling & Sutton, Foulness & Great Wakering and Rochford Ward together with co-opted representatives from the Parish Councils, the Police and Essex County Council. The Commttee meets approximately every six weeks at different venues within in the area and considers specific local issues on subjects such as community safety and the environment.
A feature of meetings is the community forum at which Councillors can hear questions and issues raised by members of the public. It can refer issues to the Council’s Executive Board.

Draft copies of the “Local Development Framework” document. is now available from the RDC website Here (3.8MB). the Sub-committee is meeting on the 14th october 2008 (RDC Meeting Documents) to discuss it, before it go to a full counil meeting on the 15th october 2008 (RDC Meeting Documents).
If the document is approved, the document will then go out for public consultation. The council will then have static exhibitions in various parts of the district, Times, dates and places of were the exhibitions are to be. TBA.

Rochford District Council Replacement Local Plan for 2006 to 2009 has now been adopted by the Council following more than three years of preparation, which included extensive public consultation, and hard work by Members and Officers from RDC. It will be part of the statutory development plan from 16th June 2006 until 15th June 2009
The RDC have set-up same new web page with an interactive map on one of them, on the interactive map you can click on any part of the district and see the planning polices that apply to that part of the district
